eBLCU from BLCU
eBLCU is BLCU quality, material and expertise that delivers online. BLCU is a leading university in China which specializes in teaching Chinese and in "popularizing Chinese language and promoting Chinese culture." Their history starts in 1950 where the first generation of BLCU teachers started the pioneering work of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. In June 1962 the name changed to Higher Preparatory School for Foreign Students. In 1964, the school was named as Beijing Language Institute and later was renamed as Beijing Language and Culture University in June, 1996. In 2002, the name was shortened as Beijing Language University (in Chinese).
For more than 50 years the teachers in BLCU have been specialized in teaching Chinese. BLCU distinguished alumni include teachers, diplomats, foreign ambassadors, journalist, and more. Thousand of BLCU current alumni have received intensive language training and are now holding various crucial positions in China and abroad.
BLCU is also the center of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK): a national standardized test to assess the Chinese language proficiency of non-native speakers (including foreigners, overseas Chinese and students of Chinese national minorities).
