Why Should Kids Learn Chinese
It is tremendously popular to offer Mandarin Chinese programs for kids in recent years. As rising numbers of young kids learn Chinese in American schools, the hottest new language trend may leave some parents scratching their heads. Why should kids learn Chinese?

At present, china is the second largest economy in the world. It is doing the groundwork to be the top economy. Some experts also say that China will inevitably be a major economic, political, and cultural force in your children's future. Maybe when your child becomes of age to have a business or job, your child may have an opportunity to deal with economic leaders in China. So learning to speak Chinese is a great way to give your children an advantage in the increasingly competitive business world.

In the US, more and more schools are offering Chinese lessons for kids to be well-prepared for future opportunities. If your child is already learning Chinese at this age, he/she will be able to perform well in Chinese language class and get top marks in language courses in school.

According to a survey, Children who learn a second language think more creatively and flexibly.Learning a second language at an early age gives children more flexibility in their thinking process. Developing a greater sensitivity to language and a better ear for listening, kids who learn another language also improve their understanding of their own. They do better in school and score higher on language tests, more able to fulfill high school and college language requirements. Since Chinese is a language that sounds way different from English, being proficient in both languages will trigger more mental associations whenever one word or phrase is thought over.

Chinese culture has a long history of over 5000 years. By learning the Chinese Language, your kids will benefit from an expanded cultural awareness. Learning Mandarin Chinese gives your kids a better understanding through the grammar and even how the words are derived of the culture behind them. And with 20% of the world's people in China, would it be helpful for the kids to be able to communicate with them in the future?

The last point is family reason. If you spouse or you has Chinese background, knowing how to speak Chinese connects your child to relatives in a highly emotional manner, compared to relatives speaking a different language. Also, if you have Chinese background, it is necessary to let your child know the language and culture. It is harder to love a culture (or a family member) when you don't understand each other.
