Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Welcomes Volunteer Chinese Teachers
In his speech, Ambassador Qiu Guohong first introduced the time-honored friendly relations between China and Nepal as well as current conditions in Nepal. He stressed upon the spirit of volunteer work and put forward some requirements for teaching in Nepal. He said, "You came to Nepal to teach Chinese not on behalf of yourselves, but on behalf of China and the most promising post-"80 generation. Therefore, you should work hard to establish a good image of China. How can you establish a good image?I would like to offer you 6 words: zuizhong (respect), qianxu (modesty) and fengxian (devotion).” Finally the ambassador pointed out that the volunteers should pay attention to health and safety, and strengthen their self-management.
Currently there are 52 volunteers teaching Chinese language in over 50 schools in Nepal. As one of the countries of the South Asian region in which volunteers are concentrated, Nepal has received a total of 167 volunteers (in 6 batches) from Hanban since 2005.
